“Addressing an unprecedented global pandemic like COVID-19 requires extensive collective action, and we are proud to collaborate with our partners and donors to support the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population as it works tirelessly to contain the spread of COVID-19,” said Bruno Maes, UNICEF Representative in Egypt.
“The frontline workers are the real heroes, the everyday heroes, working tirelessly for our safety and the safety of our children. UNICEF is proud and honored to contribute to ensuring their safety. We would also like to thank the Ministry of Health and Population for its timely and intensive efforts to contain the spread of this virus,” he added.

Additional support to the Ministry of Health and Population led efforts to address the COVID-19 pandemic, including the provision of over fifty thousand liters of chlorine to disinfect Egypt’s main quarantine hospitals.
In the same context, a senior official from the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population expressed his appreciation for UNICEF’s contributions and the tireless work it is doing in this regard, saying: “We greatly appreciate the great work that UNICEF is doing to support us in our fight against this pandemic. The significant contribution that it is providing, including personal protective equipment and other essential medical supplies, will certainly help us in the battle against COVID-19.” He added: “The Ministry and all its staff who are at the forefront of this battle are sparing no effort to limit the spread of COVID-19 and control it, and we greatly appreciate all the efforts made by UNICEF and its partners to respond to this unprecedented emergency.”
